Welcome letter from the MCLEA President | ||||

MCLEA Members, First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. This is one of many steps MCLEA is taking to better communicate with you, the members. I'm sincere in my thanks because you have other things you could be doing besides reading this, yet you set aside a few moments to check it out. My goal is that you won't go away feeling like you wasted your time! I am excited to be a part of the newly elected group chosen to lead this Association. I have spoken with several of the officers and board members and can assure you that they are equally excited to begin working for you. You may be asking “What is MCLEA doing for me?”; Well, I answer that with another question. What have you asked MCLEA to do? We encourage communication in both directions; to and from our members. We want to let you know what we are doing, and we want to hear from our members letting us know what is expected of us. We will be working for you, harder than ever before, but we can only work on things we know about. One goal of mine and Vice-President Steve Mullis is to try to meet with each agency head or his representative in the near future to introduce ourselves and establish a good rapport and a good working relationship with them and the Association. In that spirit, I want to invite all members to participate in the Association if you aren't already. Not just Sheriff's Office employees, but members from each Constable's Office, the District Attorney's Office, and the Fire Marshal's Office. If you aren't aware, Association membership is not limited to certified personnel. All employees from the above agencies can join and enjoy full membership rights. This means that civilians can vote in the elections, take part in our surveys, and even run for Board and Officer positions (if the criteria set forth in the Bylaws are met). I will be contacting some of you soon, asking you to serve on Committees that will support the Board of Directors and Officers. I would like to make this blog a monthly post. Sometimes it will be informative, sometimes it will be instructive, and sometimes it will be just for fun. Hopefully it will always meet the needs of the members, and keep you well informed on what the Association is doing for you. Sincerely, Paul Hahs Sr, MCLEA President |
